First Skein...

This is the first skein I have made from the fiber of our alpacas.  This is from L.J.'s shearing in 2012.  It is 100% alpaca 2 ply and weighs 6 3/4 ounces.  It was completely hand processed from start to finish.

This includes, removing bits of hay and other impurities, washing, carding it to align the fibers, and spinning it on a spinning wheel.  Then it is plied and finished with a warm bath and hung to dry.

These pictures were taken in front of a window for natural light exposure, and yet still the color looks different in each shot.  I am calling it 'Foggy Night'.
